Have you ever been to Lajitas? If yes, do you think it’s the weirdest golf resort? Larry Olmsted, a writer specializing in golf says that it is.

Lajitas is the Ultimate hideout that sits on the banks of the Rio Grande along the Mexican border, some 300 miles from the closest major city, El Paso. It is a 25,000-acre private estate situated in ruggedly beautiful West Texas and surrounded by the nearly one million acres of Big Bend National Park and Big Bend State Park.

The Ambush, a 19-hole course that features exposed rocks, significant elevation changes and four holes on an island in the river. There is an extra hole. Optional 11A lets you hit your tee shot on a par-3 over the Rio Grande and the border to a green in Mexico. You are sure to lose your ball since you cannot cross the water to putt out.

It’s safe to say there’s no place like Lajitas, a unique small town and golf resort high in the Big Bend country of Texas. The resort features world-class dining and a golf course that encourages you to try to make an ace in Mexico.

Though Lajitas has odd golf course but this can’t be denied that the resort offers many facilities which are even more interesting.

It includes 92 beautifully-appointed luxury hotel rooms and suites, rental homes, a spa, an equestrian center and hunt club, a bird sanctuary, an airport, an R.V. Park, condos, an historic chapel, a movie theater, three restaurants, a bar (Thirsty Goat Saloon), an executive conference center, daily entertainment and activities, and some of the most picturesque surroundings any resort could hope for.

There really is nothing like this place and if your seek golf travel; Lajitas can certainly fits your bill. It offers the Ultimate Golf Package which includes a room, breakfast, lunch and unlimited golf for two for $510 a night, dropping to $450 in the hot summer low season (June 1- September 31).

Lajitas is a luxurious destination resort-the first in Texas which offers a unique atmosphere of charming Old West history and elegance. But still there is a question in the minds of people whether it is right to call it the weirdest golf resort.
