
The earliest settlers of the nation didn’t even had the idea that the agriculture fairs they are starting would one day become the American tradition. Today, America is home to large number of state fairs and county fairs, livestock shows.
Lessons on animal husbandry, fertilizing techniques display, tractors guided by global positioning systems, slick grandstand shows, parades, and midways, exhibits of local artwork, food-tasting stands and crazy contests are the main attractions of the fairs.
State Fair in Texas, the Iowa State Fair, Minnesota State Fair and the California State Fair are some of the main fairs that are held in America.
State fair in Texas is the biggest state fair that attracts three million visitors over 24 days. The fair starts in late September. The Texas Star Ferris Wheel (212 feet high) and the Big Tex are the main attractions of the fair.
The Iowa State fair boast itself as the biggest food department. The fair is held in August and includes around 600 hundred stands that offer local items like barbecued pork sandwiches, caramel apples, tenderloins and cheese curds. The cinnamon-roll baking contest in which the winner receives $3,000 is the biggest attraction of the fair.
Each year, million of people attend the Iowa State fair. Float-filled kickoff parade, large livestock show, carnival rides, competitions like tractor pulls and a mullet contest are the attractions of the fair.
Minnesota State Fair features a large art exhibition, plenty of food-tasting stands, and performances by the Goo Goo Dolls, Fergie, Joan Jett and the local radio hero Garrison Keillor.

The California State Fair draws a million visitors each year. It includes all the usual fair attractions. The Green Dream Expo, which demonstrates ways in which Californians can limit their impact on the natural environment, is the main attraction of the fair.
