What is this fabulous piece of architecture?
Skyspace is essentially just a plain room painted in a neutral color, with a built-in bench for around 15 people and of course a hole in the ceiling.
This is the brainchild of James Turrell, a 63-year-old, Santa Claus-bearded artist. As a toddler, he loved to watch the stars through the curtains. He grew up to be an internationally acclaimed light and space artist, with diverse talents as an accomplished pilot and rancher.

There are currently 36 Skyspaces in the world. Nine of the 20 in the U.S. are open to the public. Entry to most is free but some museums do charge. If any is close to you do visit it during different times of the day for different experiences.
