One such place where you can experience community life and service, expose yourself to new culture is Shambhala Mountain Center.
It is a Buddhist organization in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The center offers a wide variety of contemplative programs, retreat opportunities, and instruction in Buddhist studies and meditation. It’s a place where one of the basic truths of Buddhism that people can be profoundly open to the wisdom of the present.

It’s a non-sectarian facility where the insights of Buddhism can mix with other traditions of human transformation and be applied to educational, cultural, artistic and business disciplines.
The center is also home of the largest Stupa in North America. The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya transforms the landscape of Shambhala Mountain Center. It’s an expression of the aspiration for peace, harmony and equanimity for all beings.


Every summer a tent village is taken down and up to 500 people are hosted for various conferences and programs. Shared, rustic lodging three excellent meals daily, daily meditation opportunities, a beautiful environment and opportunities to attend programs are offered.
Various programs that are both secular and Buddhist in orientation, and include Yoga, contemplative arts, wilderness contemplative programs, and group or individual meditation retreats are offered at the center.
The center and the great Stupa is an amazing sight, one needs to be there to experience the beauty and serenity of the place.
