Scenic Rideau Canal


If you’re planning a trip to the beautiful Ottawa region, there’s plenty to see or do. From the historic Parliament Buildings to the scenic Rideau Canal, dozens of festivals such as the Winterlude, the Tulip Festival, Bluesfest, and many more!

There are many wonderful places in Ottawa, but if you don’t know about the places to visit, it can get bit boring. Ottawa is just across the river from Gatineau, with its lively Casino and Quebecois cuisine. While, the fine dining in the Byward Market is excellent.

Ottawa is hopping with festivals all year around. Winterlude is the most special, at the start of the year. It’s a hot spot for bars, restaurant and shopping. You can take a tour of the Royal Mint. Also, a tour of parliament is memorable.

Civilization Museum

Outside of Ottawa, across the provincial border is Hull Quebec which is one of the best museums. It’s a museum of civilization and is worth going through.

You can try whitewater rafting on the Ottawa River. If you like winter, Ottawa is great place to be. During winter the Rideau Canal freezes over, it becomes the largest skating rink in the world. Ottawa is also rich in culture and heritage with its many national institutions, parklands, waterways and historic architecture.

A trip to Gatineau Park is a must for visitors of Ottawa. It is absolutely breathtaking. Gatineau Park isn’t actually in Ottawa. It is right across the border in Gatineau.

Parliament Hill

The Museum of Civilization
is a magnificent building that captures the essence of Canada and celebrates the country’s indigenous heritage with a fantastic recreation of a native village and a collection of totem poles. It also has a fabulous setting on the Ottawa River. Trip to Ottawa would be incomplete if you don’t visit, the National gallery, Canadian war Museum and beautiful 175-year-old Rideau Canal, which has just been named a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Getting there:

Ottawa is easily accessible by road rail or air.
By air:Ottawa International Airport operates on a 24-hour basis and offers a number of daily scheduled non-stop flights to cities in Canada, U.S. and Europe. The Carp Airport and the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport are two small airports that complement the Ottawa region’s air capacity.

By Train: Ottawa’s VIA Rail terminal is centrally located.
By Road: The City’s bus terminal is close to downtown.
Ottawa is a beautiful place to travel with tons of stuff to do!
