The air at Walt Disney World is about to get cleaner. Smoking will be banned as of 1st June, 2007 at all 22 Disney World hotels and time-share resorts in Florida. The policy also applies to all Disney Vacation Club Resorts. Smoking will be allowed in designated outdoor smoking areas only.
The theme park’s spokesman Jacob DiPietre said:
The transition to become smoke-free will allow Disney to better accommodate the increasing number of guests requesting nonsmoking hotel rooms.
In January 2000 the Walt Disney World Resort Theme and Water Parks became smoke-free with smoking allowed in designated smoking areas only. Currently smoking is prohibited in all lobbies, common areas, restaurants and convention spaces.
The new policy applies to all guest rooms, patios, balconies and designates outdoor smoking areas at all resorts.
