What would you say to integrating dance with rock-climbing? Well Project Bandaloop is just that, a fusion of dance and sports like rock-climbing and rappelling.
Founded in 1991, this company has performed before half a million people all over the world. Under the artistic direction of Amelia Rudolph, they have had theatre shows that have been as successful as their site-specific outdoor projects. These outdoor projects include natural terrain like Sierra Nevada, Dolomite Mountains of Italy and hills near Yosemite Falls.
They have also had many performances on buildings like New York Stock Exchange, Hilton Towers in Portland and The Eiffel Tower of Paris.
This company based in Oakland, California has been dazzling audiences by their gravity-challenging performances.
When asked at an interview on their take of mixing rock-climbing and dancing one of the dancers said:
Climbers are really dedicated to their art form. And we all know dancers are obsessed their art form. So, I think in a lot of ways they have a lot of parallels
Sure adds a new zest to dance.
