If you are in the United States and looking for something fun to do, come down to West Virginia.

The rail tours are the best way to explore parts of West Virginia. Inside the Monongahela national forest, the Shay locomotive takes pride in making it’s turns.

As the sun goes down behind the horizon, the temperature starts to drop as well.

With the whistle blown and the steam shooting skywards, the Shay starts to make it’s way up the windy railroad.

This locomotive uses about four and a half ton coal, which many agree adds to the uniqueness of the Cass Scenic Railroad.

The best thing about this kind of railroad ride is the warmth of the crew and others. A lot of times the crew will invite the passengers to take a sneak peak into the maintenance shop.

A visit to the railroad shop would give you an idea of how things were about 50 or 60 years ago.A Potomac eagle is just one of the several birds that you get to see during the rail ride.

The Cass Scenic railroad goes through a state park, which is about 11 miles long and 50 feet wide. The ride has a slow but a steady pace at 7 miles per hour.

This is probably the slowest way to explore the park. An unique thing about this ride is that the crew members are mostly volunteers. This is done to keep the costs down.

Overall, this is the best way to explore the national park if you don’t want to travel fast!
