
No trip to Ottawa is complete without a visit to scenic Gatineau Park. It is a park near Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, just north of Ottawa. Gatineau Park is a superb nature reserve just 15 minutes from Parliament Hill. It is endowed with hundreds of kilometers of trails, forests containing more than 60 species of trees, abundant wildlife and numerous crystal-clear lakes.

The park winds through a beautiful old growth forest and features several nature trails, lakes and panoramic lookouts. Pink lake, Champlain Lookout and the Mackenzie King Estate are the best photo spots at the park.
Also, the park allows for almost every type of outdoor recreation and adventure such as birdwatching, horse riding, snowshoeing, hiking, skiing, camping, paragliding, mountain biking, and cycling.

Beaches - There are five public beaches in the park that are open from the mid June to September.
King Mountain - The King Mountain Trail is 2.5 kilometers long and has 10 different observation points. From the mountain, you can get a spectacular, unobstructed view of the Ottawa River Valley.
Lusk Cave - These caves are made of marble and can be explored by foot.
Picnic Areas - The Park has many picnic areas. Some of the picnic areas include Etienne-Brule Lookout, Black Lake, La Peche Lake, Meech Lake, Mulvihill Lake and many more!
The park also boasts of 54 species of mammals and approximately 230 bird species. It is full of little reptiles and amphibians including the wood turtle, a four-toed salamandar and a chorus frog.
The Fall Rhapsody is so hard to describe because words don’t do it justice. The trees in the Park literally come alive with the vibrant colors of red, orange and yellow. It is absolutely breathtaking. Go on a jaunt to the park and explore the amazing flora and fauna that it has to offer!
