
Yosemite National park one of the beautiful parks in United States best known for its waterfalls. The park in which you feel like you are in the laps of Mother Nature has added one more attraction to it. Scientists have discovered a rare new orchid species that flourishes in the wet meadows of Yosemite National Park.
It’s a small plant that is the only known orchid species endemic to California’s Sierra Nevada range. There are nine sites inside the park where the orchid has been spotted.
As it is a small flower which is less than a quarter of an inch wide, it doesn’t have any commercial value but it is attracting large number of people. There are many orchid lovers who have already planned their cross-country trips to see its delicate summer blooms. Including the Yosemite onion, Yosemite woolly sunflower and Bolander’s clover, atleast seven other rare species of the plants have been found here.
